Product Spotlight: Traffic Paint + PREFORM® Thermoplastic

Spring has arrived and with it the demand for all types of traffic paint, markings, stencils, and PREFORM® Thermostatic material. Glenco is fully supplied with everything needed to mark roadways and pavements for optimal safety.

Glenco’s full line of pavement maintenance marking material includes:

  • Franklin Paint Water-Based Traffic Paint: HydrophastTM is a lead-free, VOC compliant, fast drying 100% acrylic waterborne traffic paint. It conforms to Federal Specification TT-P-1952F Type I & II as well as state and federal specs. It can be used on bituminous, Portland cement and concrete as well as sealcoat applications. Glenco stocks the paint in a wide variety of colors, and offers special order options for additional colors as needed.

  • PREFORM® Preformed Thermoplastic material is a durable, heavy-duty, intersection-grade material that greatly increases the life of pavement marking applications. PREFORM® is available in letters/arrows, linear sheets, rolls, colored rolls, and accessibility markings. All of these products comply with the FHWA Standard Highway MUTCD.

  • Traffic Spray Cans: Sold in cases of 12, these convenient 18-oz cans contain paint that dries in under 10 minutes.

  • Paint Stencils:  Our stencils always lay flat but will conform to any surface. Paint can be applied with a brush, roller, or spray equipment. They are designed for heavy use with minimum care, and will last a lifetime. They will not break, bend, warp, or develop paint build up.  All Glenco stencils are cut precisely to ensure crisp, accurate markings.

Glenco President Glen Abrams explains:

“Spring is here, and that means pavement maintenance time. With the consistently warmer weather upon us, municipalities are focused on repainting and restoring their pavement markings for optimal safety. Crosswalks, school zones, arrows, lane markings, etc. are all ready to be restored after the wear and tear of a long winter. Glenco is a proud distributor of all types of traffic paint as well as the full range of PREFORM® Thermoplastic materials and we are ready to provide what our customers need to ensure that all roads are well marked to maximize safety.”

Prior to updating paint and pavement markings, it is essential to clean surfaces thoroughly; for information on Glenco’s wide selection of quality brooms, check out our blogpost.

Glenco’s product selection meets the needs, specs, and requirements for all pavement marking applications.

In general, we recommend the Thermoplastic for durability’s sake. Thermoplastic is a bit more involved to install, but offers the benefit of less frequent maintenance and replacement—it lasts for about three to five years.  However, many customers and municipalities prefer paint. Applying paint is a very straightforward process, but it degrades more quickly than Thermoplastic. Paint’s life span is about 10-12 months. Regardless, Glenco can deliver whatever is required for this important pavement maintenance protocol in your municipality.
